Isaiah Calloway was born on September 8, 1983, in Miami, Miami-Dade County, Florida. He was the son of Beatrice Calloway Whetstone and the husband of Alecia Calloway. He joined the U.S. Army in October 2003, a year after graduating from Englewood High School with the Class of 2002, where he had participated in ROTC. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 4th Infantry Regiment, based in Hohenfels, Germany, and was later deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

Cpl Calloway died from the injuries he sustained on October 30, 2006, when his unit came into contact with enemy forces using small arms fire during combat operations in Marah, Afghanistan. He is now buried in the Edgewood Cemetery, Jacksonville, Duval County, Florida, USA.
