Born Jan. 4, 1881, Cumberland County North Carolina, USA. 2nd son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas D. Bulla. Graduate of Davidson College and the Union Theological Seminary, and pastor of the First Presbyterian Church in Emporia, Virginia. His unit was in the vicinity of a position called Molleville Farm about ten miles north of Verdun during the Meuse-Argonne Offensive when he was wounded on October 15, 1918; he died two days later. Buried in NC, his tombstone reads: "Died of wounds received while on the post of duty. The first monument erected to a Cumberland boy."
