Born in Little Falls, NY in 1874, graduated from Trinity college in 1897 and the General Theological Seminary in 1900. On leave of absence as rector of the St John's Church in Worcester, Mass. Chaplain (Captain) Danker distinguished himself by gallantry in action while serving with the 104th Infantry Regiment, American Expeditionary Forces, in action at Seicheprey, France, 12 - 14 April 1918, in attending the sick and wounded and caring for the dead under enemy fire. He was killed by an artillery shell a month later. The first US chaplain to be KIA in WWI. He was also the senior Chaplain in the 26th Infantry Division.
