Emmett Alexander Hood was a technical sergeant in the U.S. Air Force during World War II and served as the top turret gunner and flight engineer for the 547th Bomber Squadron, 384th Bomber Group.
On October 14, 1943, he and members of his squadron were shot down in Griffeny in France during the Second Raid of Schweinfurt. He and 8 other crew members parachuted to safety. Sgt. Hood escaped and entered safely into Switzerland on October 21, 1943.
