James William McKeon served as a technical sergeant in the U.S. Air Force and was the ball turret gunner for the 547th Bomber Squadron, 384th Bomber Group during WWII.
On October 14, 1943, McKeon's B-17 bomber was shot down in Griffeny, France. He and 8 of his crew members parachuted to safety. McKeon was able to escape German detection and crossed into Switzerland on October 21, 1943.
