Born on November 28, 1916, Donald Potter Ogilvie served as a 1st Lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force and was a pilot for the 547th Bomber Squadron, 384th Bomber Group.

On October 14, 1943, Ogilvie and his squadron's bomber crashed. He and 8 others survived. While 7 of the crew were able to escape, Ogilvie and Lt. Kilmer were captured and arrested in March, 1944 and sent to Stalag Luft III.
