William Hollis Wilson was a First Lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force and a bombardier for the 547th Bomber Squadron, 384th Bomber Group during WWII.
Wilson died on October 14, 1943 when his B-17 crashed in Griffeny, France during the Second Raid of Schweinfurt. As he went down with the aircraft, Wilson gave the rest of his crew enough time to parachute safely from the crashing plane.
1Lt. Wilson is buried in Luxembourg American Cemetery.
