Samuel Webster “Sam” Elwood was born on March 26, 1898 in Elkton, South Dakota. He was a graduate of Princeton University, Class of 1920. He died on September 9, 1918 at the age of due to an ill pneumonia in the aviation barracks at Chelsea, Mass. He is now buried in the Fairlawn Cemetery, Decatur, Macon County, Illinois, USA.
