Major John O. Hall was commanding the 526th Bomber Squadron and flew his first mission as copilot and observer of the B-17 42-29773 “Up and At Them”, which took off from Kimbolton in Cambridgeshire, UK on a bombing run over Saint-Nazaire’s “Flak Alley” to attempt to bomb the submarine pens there. They were shot down by AA fire and German fighters, crashing around 1712. Cpt John O. Hall, pilot of the B-17 42-29773 “Up and At Them”, took off from Kimbolton in Cambridgeshire, UK on a bombing run over Saint-Nazaire’s “Flak Alley”.
