"Chester Hugh Rice was born on April 27, 1921 in Frederick, Tillman County, Oklahoma. He was the son of William Hugh Rice and Gertrude Wilcox Rice. Chester served in the 382nd Fighter Squadron, 363rd Fighter Group as a Second Lieutenant during World War II.

2nd Lt Rice, pilot of the P-51 Mustang 43-6964, took off from site A-15 in Cherbourg-Maupertus on a patrol mission over Le Mans and Chartres. He collided with the P-51 44-13554 of 1st Lt Dell P. Hudson at 1100. He died on August 13, 1944 at the age of 23 and is now buried in the Frederick Memorial Cemetery, Frederick, Tillman County, Oklahoma, USA."
