Cpt Norman V. Beaman, pilot of the P-47 Thunderbolt 42-75849, took off from A-7 Azeville on an armed reconnaissance over the Vire sector. He was shot down in aerial combat with an Me-109 but managed to bail out safely at 0900, eventually escaping back to the UK. His full E&E report is #1213.
