TSgt Clifford Albert Stafford, mechanic of the B-24 Liberator 42-63978 “Lonesome Polecat”, took off from station 104 in Hardwick, Norfolk, UK on a bombing mission over Siracourt’s rocket installations. They were shot down by flak at 0954, crushing two civilians and killing all aboard.
