Edward McClure Peters, Jr. was born on December 25, 1892 in New Jersey City and was educated at the Berkshire School, Sheffield, Massachusetts. He graduated from Harvard University in 1916. He was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in November 1916. He entered the Army Service Schools, Leavenworth, Kansas on January 1, 1917 and was ordered to the Mexican border on April 2, as a part of the 3rd US Infantry, band then was transferred late in May to the 16th Infantry. He deployed to France in the early part of June. He was promoted to Captain in the early part of December 1917 and had been in command of a machine gun company since August 1917. He was Killed in Action on March 11, 1918 in France at the age of 25 and is now buried in St. Mihiel American Cemetery, Thiaucourt, France. He also has a cenotaph located in Forest Hills Cemetery and Crematory, Jamaica Plain, Suffolk County, Massachusetts, USA.
