Charles Irwin Moon was born on November 29, 1907 in Nowata County, Oklahoma. He entered the military service in Kansas and served in the 37th Engineer Combat Battalion as a Technician Fourth Grade during World War II. He was Killed in Action on June 6, 1944 at the age of 36 at Omaha beach on D-day and is now buried in Normandy American Cemetery, Colleville-sur-Mer, France.
