Pilot of the P-38 Lightening serial number 42-104235 flying for the 48th Fighter Squadron. On a mission to divebomb the aerodrome of Valance he was hit by flak near the town of Rasteau, 4km northeast of Travaillan. Attempted a belly landing at 1030 on 6 August 1944 but was unsucessful and perished in the crash.
