Pilot of the P-47 Thunderbolt Type D-11-RE, serial number 42-75556QI*K that took off from station 369 Martlesham Heath in Suffolk, UK, on an armed reconnaissance of the area around Beauvais. Clipped a high tension wire while strafing trucks on a road at 8:50am, lost control and crashed. He is buried in Normandy American Cemetery, France and has a cenotaph located in Mount Washington Cemetery, Independence, Jackson County, Missouri.
