Gunner of a tank in the 37th Tank Battalion that was destroyed on 14 Sept 44 in Valhey, France in an action for which Sergeant Joseph Sadowski, the tank commander, received the Medal of Honor. The monument in Valhey says that he was killed there, however the records of Stalag 13D (Oflag 73) in Nuremburg, Germany, say that he spent 247 days in captivity there before being liberated.
