Hubert Crase was born on July 27, 1916. Crase entered the service in October 12, 1939. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Private First Class in the 46th Field Artillery Battalion, 5th Division. Private First Class Hubert Crase, 28, landed in Iceland on September 11, 1941. He remained in Iceland for two years before being sent to England, then to Ireland, and on to France. He was killed in action on August 23, 1944 and is now buried at Thornton Cemetery, Letcher County, Kentucky.
