Byron A. Hoff was born on October 24, 1913. When Byron Armstrong Hoff, his father, Charles, was 48 and his mother, Isabelle, was 38. He had four brothers. He enlisted in the Army on November 12, 1943 in Portland, Maine. He was noted as being employed as a Retail manager and also as Married. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Private in the 11th Infantry Regiment, 5th Infantry Division. He died on August 24, 1944, killed in action, was initially buried at Villeneuve-sur-Auvers in France and is now buried at Brittany American Cemetery, St. James, France.
