When Fred Vernon Schuver was born in 1914, his father, George, was 25 and his mother, Clara, was 24. He had eight brothers and eight sisters. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Private in the 10th Infantry Regiment, 5th Infantry Division. He entered service in New York. He died on August 25, 1944, was initially buried at Villeneuve-sur-Auvers in France and is now buried at Brittany American Cemetery, St. James, France.
