When Gordon Stonebraker was born on December 15, 1918, in Veedersburg, Indiana, his father, Ora, was 22 and his mother, Edith, was 20. He had one brother and four sisters. served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Private First Class in the 33rd Field Artillery Batalion, 1st Infantry Division. He entered service in Indiana. He died on August 28, 1944, was initially buried at Villeneuve-sur-Auvers in France and is now buried at Brittany American Cemetery, St. James, France.
