When John C. ELLISON was born on November 17, 1920, in Portia, Arkansas, his father, Clay, was 19 and his mother, Fannie, was 19. He had four brothers and five sisters.
USAAF officer Lieutenant John Ellison was posted to the 354th Fighter Squadron / 355th Fighter Group in 1944. During his service there, he destroyed two enemy aircraft on the ground on June 24, 1944.
On September 12, 1944, John Ellison was killed in command of the P-51B (43-7182) WR Y "Dragon Wagon". He was last seen chasing a Fw 190 through a B-17 Box.
He is now buried in Lawrence Memorial Park, Walnut Ridge, Lawrence County, Arkansas, USA.
