When James O. Beerman was born on April 16, 1925, in Wisconsin, his father, Otto, was 36 and his mother, Hazel, was 36. He had two sisters. He was graduated with the 1943 class, and in September of that year, he enlisted in the ASTP, getting training at Fort Benning, Ga., and at Carnegle Tech at Pittsburgh, Pa. Later he was transferred into the infantry and stationed at Indiantown Gap, Pa., until called to go to overseas on August 1, 1944, when he became a member of the 95th Division of the 378th Infantry. He was Killed in Action on November 18, 1944 and is now buried in Guttenberg Cemetery, Guttenberg, Clayton County, Iowa, USA.
