When Harry E. Barrick was born in July 1881 in Polk City, Iowa, his father, Martin, was 23 and his mother, Sarah, was 24. He married Lydia Montana Gillette on June 24, 1908, in Bozeman, Montana. They had one child during their marriage. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private in Company L, 16th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He died in 1918 and is now buried in, Deep Creek Cemetery, Townsend, Broadwater County, Montana, USA.
