Max C. Buchanan was born on October 1880. He entered the military service in Massachusetts. Max enlisted in the Army when he was 18 1/2 in 1899. He re-enlisted 4 times after that, in 1902, 1905, 1908, and 1912. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Second Lieutenant in Company D, 28th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He died on May 28, 1918 and is now buried in Somme American Cemetery, Bony, France. He also has a cenotaph in Pine Hill Cemetery, West Bridgewater, Plymouth County, Massachusetts, USA.
