When Theron Edward Dalrymple was born in May 1892 in New York, his father, Asa, was 32 and his mother, Minnie, was 23. He had three sisters. He entered the military service in New York. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Sergeant in Company A, 1st Reconnaissance Troop, 1st Infantry Division. He died on May 10, 1918 and is now buried in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Arlington County, Virginia, USA. He Awarded the Distinguished Service Cross; from his citation: "At Bois de Villers, France, on May 9, 1918, he displayed heroic devotion to duty by rendering first-aid assistance to the wounded, by handling his platoon under shell fire with coolness and courage, and by attempting to protect a comrade while he himself was mortally wounded."
