When Carroll DePriest was born on April 1, 1880, in Carroll, Tennessee, his father, Nathan, was 30 and his mother, Mary, was 30. He had four brothers and two sisters. He was raised and remained there until about 1911, when he moved to Cottonwood Point Mo., where he resided with his family until his enlistment in the U.S. Army in the early part of the World War I. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private in Company C, 2nd Machine Gun Battalion, 1st Infantry Division. He died of wounds on June 14, 1918 and is now buried in Coleman Cemetery, Denton, Pemiscot County, Missouri, USA.
