When Lloyd Stanley Howe was born on May 4, 1895, in Wisconsin, his father, Gabriel, was 34 and his mother, May, was 23. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private First Class in Company I, 28th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division.
