James Franklin Carson was born on December 9, 1891. He enlisted in the Army on April 23, 1914 at Columbus Barracks, Ohio. He was assigned in Company D, 18th Infantry Regiment from April 23, 1914 to June 4, 1914 and later assigned to Company C, 35th Infantry until July 12, 1916. He was then reassigned to Company K, 18th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division as a Private during World War I. He died of wounds on May 14, 1918 and is now buried in Zion Hill Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Snead, Blount County, Alabama, USA.
