Wylie V. McCauley was born on April 11, 1893. He served on the Mexican Border, and embarked for overseas service in June, 1917 and was attached to the HQ Company, 26th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He died from his wounds received in battle on May 28, 1918 and is now buried in Hill City Baptist Church Cemetery, Hill City, Gordon County, Georgia, USA. His name is inscribed on the Cantigny monument as PVT W MC CULEY.
