When Joseph A Ponczoch was born on January 19, 1895, in Wisconsin, his father, John, was 42 and his mother, Ottilia, was 41. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private in Company C, 16th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action on June 11, 1918 and is now buried in Somme American Cemetery, Bony, France. His name is inscribed on the Cantigny monument as PVT J A POMCZOCK.
