Elmo Ridges was born on May 12, 1888. He was the grandson of Joseph Ridges, the builder of the Tabernacle organ, and Ebenezer Beesley director of the Tabernacle choir for fifteen years. He was a nephew of Lorenzo Beesley, an employee of the Telegram-Herald Republican. Private Ridges was married to Miss Agnes Gurdy. He enlisted in September 1917 and was sent to Camp Lewis after a short period of training at Camp Lewis, Ridges then, was sent to France. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private in Company D, 26th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action on May 30, 1918 and is now buried in Somme American Cemetery, Bony, France.
