Ernest C. Ross was born in about 1898. After entering the service, Private Ross received preliminary training in local camps attached to Company E, 28th Infantry, with which unit he embarked for oversea service. He was killed in action while serving in the front line trenches, in France. He is now buried in New Hope Baptist Cemetery, Zebulon, Pike County, Georgia, USA
