Israel Silverman served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private in Company G, 16th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He saw five months of active service in France with Company G, 16th Infantry, 1st Infantry Division. He was wounded several times, but he finally died on July 1, 1918 from the effects of gas received on June 25, 1918. He is now buried in Mount Hebron Cemetery, Flushing, Queens County, New York, USA.
