When Robert Weston Veal was born on July 27, 1892, in Deepstep, Georgia, his father, Robert, was 28 and his mother, Maud, was 19. He had four brothers and two sisters. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private First Class in Company K, 28th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action on May 28, 1918 and is now buried in Eliam Cemetery, Melrose, Putnam County, Florida, USA.
