When Willford Wethington was born on November 12, 1875, in Casey, Kentucky, his father, William, was 25 and his mother is Catharine. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private First Class in Company G, 28th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action on May 28, 1918 at the age of 42 and is now buried in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Arlington County, Virginia, USA. His name is inscribed on the Cantigny monument as PFC W WITHINGTON.
