When Charles Bryan Sullivan was born on September 4, 1896, in Whitley, Kentucky, his father, Asa, was 40 and his mother, Nancy, was 38. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private in Company B, 16th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He died from his wounds received in battle on June 30, 1918 at the age of 21 and is now buried in Maple Creek Cemetery, Williamsburg, Whitley County, Kentucky, USA.
