Paul M. Hunt was born on July 18, 1895. He is the son of Jabez and Mattie B. Hunt. He enlisted in the Army on September 21, 1917 at Cambridge City, Ind. and was sent to Camp Taylor, Kentucky. He was then transferred to Camp Shelby, Miss. and was assigned to Company K, 162nd Infantry. He embarked on June 10, 1918 and served with the Company E, 16th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He died from his wounds received in battle on July 23, 1918 at the age of 23 and is now buried in Crown Hill Cemetery, Centerville, Wayne County, Indiana, USA. His name is inscribed on the Buzancy monument with Company K.
