Lester H. Wormlight, son of Herbert and Flora Belle (Locke) Wormlight, was born in Harmony, Me., on November 2, 1884. He received his education in the common schools of Harmony. After leaving school he was employed on a sheep ranch in Wyoming for about two years. In February, 1913, he enlisted in Company K, 26th Infantry, and was sent to Fort Slocum, New York. Later, he was sent to Texas and remained on the Mexican border until February, 1916, at which time he was discharged as a reservist.
Lester then came home and stayed until he was called to the colors on October 30, 1916, and was sent to Arizona. The following June he was transferred to Company I, 18th Infantry. He was Killed in Action on July 18, 1918 at Chateau Thierry and is now buried in West Ridge Cemetery, Cornville, Somerset County, Maine, USA.
