When Robert L. Holbrook was born in 1902 in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, his father, David, was 28 and his mother, Charity, was 22. He had three brothers. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Corporal in Company K, 26th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He died from his wounds received in battle on August 17, 1918 and is now buried in Saint Johns Anglican Cemetery, South March, Ottawa Municipality, Ontario, Canada. His name is inscribed on the Buzancy monument as CPL R L HOLBROCK.
