When Ransom S. Rabun was born in 1899 in Louisville, Georgia, his father, Jordan, was 22 and his mother, Alice, was 25. He had three brothers and one sister. He served on the Mexican Border during the year of 1916. He was later attached to Company M, 28th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division, with which unit he embarked for overseas service on June 14, 1917. He was wounded in action, died in a Field Hospital, near Soissons, France on July 21, 1918, as a result of his wounds. He is now buried in Louisville City Cemetery, Louisville, Jefferson County, Georgia, USA. His surname is inscribed on the Buzancy monument as Rabon.
