John William “Jack” Castelloe was born on June 13, 1895 in Marion, Linn County, Iowa. He enlisted in the Army on May 11, 1917 and landed in France on June 26, 1917. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private First Class in Company B, 16th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action on June 18, 1918 in Picardie, France and is now buried in Pine Glen Cemetery, Prescott, Pierce County, Wisconsin, USA. His name is inscribed on the Buzancy monument as PFC J CASTELLVE.
