When Thomas L. Knott was born on February 21, 1898, in Cincinnati, Ohio, his father, Clarence, was 30 and his mother, Fannie, was 32. He had four brothers and two sisters. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private First Class in Company D, 16th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action on July 19, 1918 and is now buried in Oise-Aisne American Cemetery, Seringes-et- Nesles, France.
