When Clinton Ford Quakenbush was born on June 22, 1896 in Nemaha County, Kansas, his father, Homer, was 25 and his mother, Phoebe, was 23. He had one sister. He entered the military service in Nebraska. he served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private in Company G, 16th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He died from his wounds received in battle but declared "Missing" on July 21, 1918 and is memorialized on Tablets of the Missing, Aisne-Marne American Cemetery, Belleau, France.
