When Arthur J. Pearson was born on December 18, 1896, in Cherryvale, Kansas, his father, Franklin, was 21 and his mother, Mary, was 21. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private in Company K, 16th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division.
