When Paola Pittman was born on March 29, 1894, in Fairbanks, Indiana, his father, William, was 25 and his mother, Delilah, was 19. He married Vianna Gladys (Pittman)(Suthard) (Tuttle) Ping on August 2, 1917, in Robinson, Illinois.

Service Record: Enlisted Terre Haute, Vigo, Indiana in Company H, Indiana National Guard (Company H, 151st Infantry) on 19 Apr 1917. Sent to duty at Ft. Benjamin Harrison, Indiana and later transferred to Camp Shelby, Mississippi. Shipped overseas in June of 1917 assigned to Company K, 16th Infantry, 1st Division. Killed in Action on 19 Jul 1918 in Soissons, Departement de l'Aisne, Picardie, France. Originally buried in Soissons.
