When Clarence L. Teaford was born on February 11, 1892, his father, Squire, was 35 and his mother, Emily, was 26. He lost his parents when he was only 3 years old. He entered the military service in Indiana. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private in Machine Gun Company, 16th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action on July 18, 1918 and is now buried in Oise-Aisne American Cemetery, Seringes-et- Nesles, France. His name is inscribed on the Buzancy monument as PVT C TEFORB.
