David W. Neary was born on January 31, 1900 in Crawford County, Iowa. He was the son of Thomas Joseph and Margaret Ann Neary. He entered the military service in Minnesota. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Corporal in Company E, 18th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action on July 22, 1918 and is now buried in Oise-Aisne American Cemetery, Seringes-et- Nesles, France.
