When Elmer M. Ogle was born in March 1896 in Schuyler, Illinois, his father, Willard, was 24 and his mother, Lillian, was 17. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private in Company F, 18th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He died from his wounds received in battle on August 9, 1918 (at the age of 22) and is now buried in Rosalia IOOF Evergreen Cemetery, Rosalia, Whitman County, Washington, USA.
