Ellis J. Moon was born on January 17, 1895. His father is William Wayne and his mother is Delilah Lulah Moon. he entered the military service in Alabama. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Sergeant in Company H, 18th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action but declared "Missing" on July 20, 1918 and is memorialized on Tablets of the Missing, Aisne-Marne American Cemetery, Belleau, France. He has a cenotaph located in Maple Hill Cemetery, Huntsville, Madison County, Alabama, USA.
